The main health resorts of the Carpathian Region are situated in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast: Tatariv, Yaremche and Mykulychyn of Yaremche Town Council, Myslivka and Novyi Mizun' of the Dolyna District, Kosiv and Sheshory of Kosiv District, Vorochta and Yablunytsia of Yaremche Town Council and balneo-fangotherapy foothill resort Cherche of Rohatyn District; and in Maramures County: closed salt mines and salt lakes in Okna-Shuhatah, salty water in Koastal, mineral water in Stoichen' and hydrogen sulfide water in Danesht'. There are mineral baths and climatic treatment which are used for resort therapy.
Among mineral springs of the region the most popular are the following ones: 'Horianka' situated in the village of Novyj Mizun' in Dolyna District whose effect is similar to that of the 'Naftusia' spring in Truskavets, the 'Burkut' spring (Verkhovyna District) used for the treatment of internal organs, mineral waters and peat baths of 'Cherche' spa for the treatment of locomotorium, mineral waters of Okna Suhatat in a lowland in Maramures are famous for their medicinal qualities.
Sanatorium-and-spa institutions specialize mainly in overall improvement of health and treatment of certain body organs. Most health resorts have a diagnostic base for patient examination and balneological departments.
