When choosing a place for an overnight, remember that it is not allowed to set up tents near the steep slopes, under the rocks or single trees, over cliffs or river where there is a possibility of rise of water level, on top of the mountain, where there is a risk of lightning strike. There should be no dry or punk trees around that can be felled down by the wind.

Remember that most often factors causing accidents are subjective factors. The main factors are: lack of knowledge about the nature of the mountains and underestimation of the potential dangers, overestimation of own capacities, indiscipline of the group members, an inexperienced group leader, wrong decisions.

Besides these rules, the following fire safety rules should be kept:

• do not leave a burning fire, matches or a cigarette, because it can cause a forest fire;
• do not use candles other facilities with open fire for lighting the tent;
• do not set alight fire or oven using flammable substances.
